Knapp lived at that time in the parish of Alveston, south Gloucestershire, near Bristol.John Leonard Knapp (1767-1845) was an English botanist and naturalist, best known for the present book, published anonymously (first appearing in 1829, and running to three editions in his lifetime), and his work on British grasses, Gramina Britannica (1804, reissued 1842)..

[A. LUBLIN AND LEONARD BASKIN]
Leonard Baskin: 10 Woodcuts Prospectus
New York: A Lublin, Inc, N.D.. First Edition (?). First Printing; Softcover. B&W woodcuts; 8 1/2 x 11 x ; 12 pages; Softcover sale prospectus is heavy grey paper with BASKIN in raised letters on the cover. Stapled wraps. Some sunning on spine, bumping and top of front has darker grey reaching down from top 1.25". Not dated, but possibly from ca. 2005. Some of the pages show signs of light use and 2d woodcut, in upper corner, has small circle of light grey smudges, which do not intrude into the picture. Pages are heavy, textured white paper. Each of the woodcuts has the dimensions, title, sale price. Bound in at front is a tan colored page about the artist (1922-2000) , the order form at rear of booklet is missing. In Baskin's own words: "The enormous size of these woodcuts is not the result of a caprice......Whether the necessity which spurred these woodcuts to larger and ever larger dimensions was graced with truth, will in time be found out. Of all the graphic media, the woodcut alone holds the possibility of images conceived and realized in monumental scale. Only in the woodcut can vast areas of black be rich and splendid. Now matter ow wide the span, the black remains pure and terrible....Here are 10 prints, grotesque, umnanageable and unlimited. Heaven help them." On the obverse side of of the bound in flap it states"excerpts from 34th Venice Biennial Published by Smithsonian Institute Press, Washington, D. C." Baskin's works are held in dozens of museums.. Very Good .
